CALLING ALL EXPLORERS!

Explorers will put on their explorer vest and embark on a three-day adventure in the world of dinosaurs and STEAM-based hands-on activities. Each day will begin with a story-reading session to bring to life explorers' imagination.

Day 1: Uncovering the Age of Dinosaur

Mankind discovered the existence of dinosaurs back in the 1800s through excavation and discovery of dinosaur fossils. During the first day of the workshop, explorers will learn about the formation of fossil and try-on the process fo fossil making. They will also put on the hats of the palaeontologist and experience fossil digging through a simulation.

Day 2: Walking with Dinosaurs

On day 2, explorers will learn about the different types of dinosaurs and how they adapt to their environment through a series of activities. They will get a chance to get closer to the dinosaurs that they have learned about through the AR dinosaur experience. In the process, they will also be exposed to the AR technology and the workings of it. Explorers will also get their hands-on and engage in the mechanical dinosaur building activity where they will be using gears, screws and elastic connectors.

Day 3: Extinction of Dinosaurs

The cause of the extinction of dinosaurs remained a mystery till date but a large part is due to the drastic climate change on Earth that caused massive supervolcanic eruptions that engulfed many places. On day 3, one of the activities that explorers will be embarking on is the volcano sequencing activity where they will learn about the formation of volcanos and why they erupt. They will also be doing a volcano experiment to help enhance their understanding of volcanic eruptions.

CALLING ALL FUTURE PLANNERS!

Cities evolve according to the changing needs of the population and environmental factors. The role of urban planners is crucial in anticipating changes and planning ahead. During this 2-day workshop, explorers will put on the hats of the urban planner and experience city planning and executing the plans.

Day 1: Future City Planning

The process of planning a city takes many steps and years prior to its implementation. Explorers will take on the role of planners to understand and analyse the needs of the citizens in the city that they are planning for. Thereafter, they will be tasked to plan, design and construct facilities for the citizens using a customized grid map. With climate change and rising urban heat, it is important that planners take into account nature planning into modern cities. Explorer will be exposed to the idea of nature planning for them to incorporate into their planning and execution of their cities.

Day 2: Future Green Living

Planning a city is not an easy feat! It requires collaboration between planners and experts of different expertise. Explorers, each with a different role, will be tasked to come together and collaborate to build a modern city. They will also have to design paths to support the increasing green movement. During the planning journey, they will also embark on STEAM-based activities such as unplugged coding.

CALLING ALL ECO-WARRIORS!

How will the world be in 2030? Will we still be using non-renewable energy sources to power our homes? Will we ever run out of energy? Are there other means by which we can harness energy?

Day 1: The World in 2030

All these questions will be answered during the 2-day of hands-on STEAM workshop with Explorer Junior. We will start with a discussion on the world’s current energy situation. Thereafter, they will be tasked to think about the future of energy and learn about the current innovations aiming to solve the energy crisis.

Day 2: Renewable Energy

Thereafter, they will move into activities that will help them understand more about how different renewable energy can be harnessed and converted to useful energy. The activities include the designing and creation of a water wheel and the building of a solar car. Explorers will also get to experiment how these different tools work under different conditions. This is to allow them to gain a better and in-depth understanding of all these energy sources.

Not only will this workshop give Explorers a hands-on experience working with renewable energy sources, but it will also allow them to gain awareness of the world’s current energy landscape and their role in the future.
