Beyond student care

Afterschool at Explorer Junior goes beyond supervision and beyond classroom learning. It is a thoughtfully designed programme where academic guidance, STEM exploration and community culture come together within a small, focused cohort.

Here, children do not simply complete homework. They extend their thinking, explore ideas more deeply and develop habits of curiosity and exploration that last beyond the school day. The curriculum includes a structured enrichment block that rotates across five purposefully designed programmes:

Jr Tech Titans - hands-on coding, Micro:bit projects and AI awareness activities for young digital creators.

Jr Braveminders - guided social-emotional learning sessions covering emotional regulation, resilience and empathy, developed in partnership with our research in neuroscience and education.

Jr Scientists - inquiry-based science exploration grounded in real-world environmental and sustainability contexts.

Outdoor Explorers - intentional outdoor time that supports executive function, teamwork and physical well-being.

Math & Science Coaching - small-group academic coaching focused on concept clarity and exam confidence.

A typical day at EJ

Our daily schedule balances academic responsibility with purposeful exploration. Structure provides stability, while the enrichment programs create space for curiosity and growth.

  • We pick up students from Maha Bodhi School during school term. If your child is attending another school, kindly contact us to enquire about transportation arrangements. We provide lunch and tea break during school term & an additional breakfast during school holidays.

Our meals are prepared by NEA-licensed cook to ensure that our students receive fresh and nutritious food daily. Fruits are provided during lunch and children can also refill their water bottles from our filtered water dispenser to stay hydrated.

  • We provide a safe and positive studying environment for our explorers to develop good learning habits and support them in the fundamentals for academic excellence.

After lunch and rest, children will start their school/tuition assignments and our student care educators will support them with their school spelling (English/Chinese) revision. We also provide a set of subject revision materials that we work on everyday.

We keep our teacher to student ratio to 1:12 to ensure all children get sufficient attention.

  • Students will take a break during this time and snacks will be served.

  • Our afternoon enrichment block is where growth meets purposeful exploration. Students rotate through curated programmes designed to build confidence, competence, and character beyond homework completion.

    Jr Tech Titans
Hands-on technology sessions where students explore coding, maker projects, AI concepts, and digital literacy in age-appropriate ways.

    Jr Braveminders (SEL Programme)
Guided social-emotional learning sessions that develop emotional regulation, empathy, resilience, and healthy communication. Through reflective conversations, journaling, and interactive activities, students learn to navigate their emotions, friendships and challenges.

    Jr Scientists
Inquiry-based science exploration where students experiment, observe, and think critically. From environmental themes to applied STEM challenges, we nurture curiosity and real-world problem solving.

    Outdoor Explorers
Intentional outdoor time for movement, teamwork, and play. Physical activity and unstructured interaction support executive function, social skills, and overall well-being.

    Math & Science Coaching
Targeted small-group coaching to strengthen foundational understanding and exam confidence. We focus on concept clarity and problem-solving strategies rather than rote drilling.

This structured enrichment window ensures that every afternoon balances academic support, character development, and hands-on exploration.

  • Students wind down through open-ended play and quiet activities. They may build with LEGO and blocks, read independently, draw, or engage in light conversations with peers and teachers.

Parents may pick up anytime during this period.

Why Explorer Junior is different from other student care in Ubi

Here is what makes Explorer Junior distinct:

Close-knitted learning community. We limit enrollment deliberately so every child is supported individually and not lost in a crowd. This allows us to cultivate meaningful educator-student relationships, personalised guidance and a strong sense of belonging.

Real STEM, not just enrichment add-ons. STEM exploration is woven into the daily schedule, not bolted on as an afterthought or additional enrichment. Children work on real coding projects, science investigations and digital literacy challenges as part of their normal afternoon.

Educator-led, not supervision-led. Our team are trained educators and STEM facilitators, not babysitters. We focus on mentorship, curiosity and character alongside academic outcomes.

Research-informed social-emotional learning. Our Jr Braveminders SEL programme is informed by current neuroscience and education research, addressing children as a whole, and not just their grades.

Recognised for excellence in STEM education

Explorer Junior has been delivering STEM education in Singapore since 2014, incubated at NUS Enterprise and recognised by leading organisations:
